She was out riding her bike, stopped for a rest and started feeling dizzy. Fortunately where she rides there a some regular cyclists and one stopped to help her. He called 911 and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived. The paramedics had to zap her to get her heart back into sinus rhythm.
When I found out, I drove the 3 hours to the emergency room. She asked me to go to her place and collect some stuff for her. I stayed with her until 1am.
She was doing a lot better, talking, joking and telling me what happened.
She was transferred to another hospital on Saturday where she was diagnosed. I drove back out to visit.
Apparently she has a leaky heart valve that can be corrected and needs another valve replaced.
The operation on her heart is scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. Hopefully we'll both have something to be thankful for.
The doctors told her that being active, fit and eating a healthy diet saved her life. Most people wouldn't have survived what had happened to her.

She's shootin' my .22 earlier this year.

The two of us making silly faces last year.

I'm gonna head out there again on Tuesday.

I’m really glad she pulled through and is getting the care she needs. You being there for her means a lot...wishing you both strength and a smooth recovery.

Glad she's going to be ok. Good luck in that she was on a well-traveled trail and not out in the woods.
Tough spending the holidays in the hospital, but glad she's getting the help, and good that she has a dutiful brother by her side.

The surgery was at 7am today and at 11:30am the hospital called and said that everything went well, she's off the heart lung machine and they're closing her up.
I called the hospital at 2:45pm and she's in intensive care, still hasn't woken up from the anesthesia and is still intubated but that's normal.
