So, I'm curious about keeping ramen in my prep stash. I know it's not the healthiest option, but it's super cheap and fills you up. I've got a few cases tucked away, but how long do they really last after the date? 🤔 Is there a better way to store them than just leaving them in the box? Anyone out there rotate their ramen regularly or have tips to jazz it up for long-term use? Feels like they stick around longer than the expiration date says!

Having a few as comfort food is OK, but if you check the nutrition label I believe these are really high in sodium and lacking in food value.

I keep a .50 cal. ammo can in the truck with shelf stable "over the road rations" and cooking gear to avoid having to stop at fast food joints. Has been helpful when traffic stopped due to winter storms, etc.

I carry an immersion heater which fits the cigarette lighter plug, Mil-K-818 pocket knife, GI canteen cup, Natick cooking stand, Esbit fuel tabs, BIC lighter, mess kit spoon and fork and 2 gallons of water.

In the food can are four small tins of evaporated milk, instant coffee, tea bags, cube sugar. 1 tin or jar each of peanut butter, fruit jam, canned chicken, tuna, corned beef, pork & beans, an 8-pack.of 6oz low sodium V8 and Sailor Boy Pilot Biscuit. All of these can be found at the grocery except for the Pilot Biscuit. Saltine crackers with unsalted tops or Wasa Krispbread could be substituted. Suggestions here are offered as an idea starter for discussion only.

I figure you'll need extra sodium on hand anyway. And it is comfort food. Plus, all the dried foods they sell in the buckets are probably sodium rich. Seal the Ramen in mylar bags with oxygen removers in buckets. I have probably six five-gallon buckets of beans and rice stored that way since 2013 to supplement the radioactive squirrels I'll be eating. I have 4 or 5 buckets of the Wise brand SHTF foods also. Seems a person should buy a bucket occasionally and put it away. Not the most healthy and best tasting stuff, but better than nothing.

They're not any healthier but there are some tastier ramen packets. Walmarts has a brand called Shin. Beef bone broth and chicken are the two I like, they come with an extra packet of Korean hot red pepper powder that you can as little or as much as you like. Guaranteed to warm you up one way or another.

They cost more but they come with less regret due to the flavor. Even still I may eat one a month but haven't in the summer heat.
