Anyone reloading their own turkey shells?

I am thinking about getting into reloading turkey loads to save some cash and dial in my patterns, is it actually worth the investment or should I just buy factory ammo?

I dabbled with reloading turkey shells a while back. It’s fun if you like tinkering and chasing the perfect pattern, but honestly factory loads have gotten so good it’s tough to beat them on cost or performance, I mostly just buy now

Unless you shoot a ton, factory TSS is hard to beat economically, reloading is for pattern density perfection and bragging rights. Check out Longshot powder if you commit to the DIY route

Yeah, I’ve rolled my own a few times , fun project but not exactly a money saver unless you shoot a ton. but still, patterning your custom load and dropping a tom with it? That’s a sweet feeling!

Makes sense. I do like tinkering but if factory shells are that good now, might be smarter to just buy and spend that time scouting or shooting instead.

Good point, TSS does make factory loads tough to beat unless you're aiming for tiny gains. If I reload, it'll be for patterning and bragging rights, not savings

That’s the appeal, it is not a money-saver unless you shoot a ton but patterning and taking a tom with your own load? that's worth every minute. I’ll try a few

I tried reloading turkey shells a couple seasons back, it is a fun project but honestly not a money saver. Factory TSS patterned so well I ended up switching back.

A friend makes fun of me for making or other people for buying turkey shotshells. Since he was old enough to call them, he has used regular old Remington #6 1-ounce squirrel loads, and he always gets his turkey. But now he is obsessed with how a .410 with TSS loads can obliterate a turkey's neck at 40 yards or so.
