Summer always feels like the slow season for hunting, but it's the perfect time to get ahead before things ramp up. I've been checking my gear and trail cams, trying to keep my fitness up, but honestly, I feel like I'm slacking off a bit; I'd love to hear how everyone else is prepping this time of year.

Get to the range. Staple up a black 6-inch 100-yard rifle target. Place the 94 Winchester's silver bead on it and shoot offhand. If I hit the black at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards, I'm good to go where I hunt in Pocahontas County up in the Roughs of Bergoo creek all the way to the end accessed from the Sharps Knob end.
