A bunch of unblooded rifles

This year I will take some unblooded rifles and try to make them blooded.

I have a 1944 '98 Mauser in 8x57 with 170gr Speer semi SP that I have loaded up.

Next will be a Remington m14 in 30 Remington with 150gr Speer FN

I have a 1891 Argentine Mauser (1900) in 7.65x53 with 185gr RNGC

I have also a 1908 Brazilian Mauser in 7x57 with 150gr factory second bullets. I believe my gunsmith mounted a 2-7x or 3-9x Burris. I luv the 7 Mauser. I built a FN 98 Mauser with a 20" Douglas barrel, Timney trigger and all that stuff for my oldest son rifle. Since he was only three yo, I took it upon myself to field the rifle. It took me 13 years and many killed deer, but I gave my son a great hunting rifle. He went from from 4' 11" to 6' 1" on a growth spurt in one year. So I gave the Mauser to him. I have another 1893 FN Mauser in 7x57 but I will have to put a aperture sight on it. Also I have a Arisaka Type 99 in '06 that just loves 180gr Remington RN factory loads. There rifles are unblooded too.

That’s a serious lineup, those old Mausers don’t stay unblooded for long once they get dialed in.

Nice, I've only lever rifles for old school sporters but a few sporterized military rifles including a 91 like yours, a 98 in 8mm and a santa fe Lee Enfield #4 mk1 that was done fairly nicely with the original rear sight. All with iron sights at the moment.

Care to share any decent loads, or maybe another thread, for military rifle hunting loads either jacketed or cast?

Most of the time, or if I have my reloading notebook handy, I will name the powder and what velocity. It has gotten dicey with how much powder was used, so I no longer do it. Most of my loads are either in the lowest to middle charge. I gave up on the most velocity of a cartridge years ago. Heck, I no longer try to do one hole at 100 yards. 5 shots, 1 1/2" with a scope or 3" aperture sights is fine with me.

I use my TC Encore in a 23" MGM heavy factory barrel in 20 Vartarg. I would use a 32gr Hornady Vmax with Reloder 7 and I would generally go .173", 5 shots at 100_yards, 10 shots would be .215" at 100_yards. This was after I weighed the case, weighed the bullet, neck turn, measured the case and the bullet....I figured out that I did 30-35 minutes for each cartridge. I never did competitive shooting. I just shot for my own self. But I did learn alot.
