Health and Fitness Thread

In September I was 170 pounds and 12.1% bodyfat. 177 pounds this morning.
Judging on how I felt at the gym today, at least some of it's lean mass.
Anyway, my next reassessment's in March. Wouldn't it be interesting if I was a lean 180 pounds by then?

Really good workout today. Even though I did a home workout on Friday, it's not as intense and controlled a workout as I can get at the gym. I generally consider home workouts as a deload day. Even though I did home cardio on Saturday and Sunday, it still gives my muscles a chance to heal a bit more.
Apparently it worked, I felt really good at the gym today.
Also, I decided to switch up my tricep workouts. I have been doing one handed overhead tricep extensions and today, I started doing tricep cable pushdowns.
Anyway, today was also a weigh in day and I've been holding steady at 176 pounds all month. That's 36 pounds up since Lisa and I started at the new gym in 2020.
Maybe 180 lean pounds by Spring?
Home cardio tomorrow, probably on Lisa's elliptical.
Gotta make sure to get my protein.

Good workout today.
I started doing upright rows for shoulders in November and either I'm delusional or I'm seeing results already.
I've started taking progress pictures at the first workout of every month. We'll see what happens.

Kinda busy at the gym today. Saw some new faces and I hope they keep it up.
Also, I've got my bike all cleaned up, lubed, adjusted and nut and bolted.

My new bigger grips came in today.
Next to the old smaller grip.

Those'll fit my big hands better.

I even got matching bar end plugs.

When spring riding season gets here, I'll be ready.

Had my annual blood letting and old man checkup recently.
According to the results my LDL cholesterol was elevated.
Didn't make sense to me. I always eat healthy so what changed?
They wanted to give me a pill for it. That always seems to be their answer.
Instead I went online to see what I can do.
I found that green tea, oatmeal, exercise and probiotics are all shown to lower LDL cholesterol.
So, I'm going to do what I can and see what happens.
That means that along with daily green tea, oatmeal, yogurt and probiotics, exercise either at the gym or on my home spin bike or elliptical.
When it gets warmer, that'll mean hiking and biking.
I've got 6 months until my next blood letting to check.

Silly question time.
In November I decided to start doing upright rows for shoulders instead of overhead presses. In December, I decided to start taking progress pictures.
Anyway, is there a difference in my shoulder development here? I did increase my cardio and lost some weight.

Maybe I'm just being goofy but I've been cutting fat since the beginning of February.
I reduced my calories but I'm keeping my protein up.
In the gym, my goal's to maintain muscle mass as I cut the bodyfat.
My next reassessment's on March 12th so I have a bit less than a month.
We'll see how it works out.

Looks like your shoulders are loving the change!

Interesting workout today. Everything seemed a bit easier than it did on my last workout.
Could it be because of the sunny warmer weather or was it just a low gravity day?
Tomorrow, I'm seriously thinking of getting my bike out for the first time this year.

On today's workout, I was doing my upright rows and after 16 reps on my first set, I decided to increase weight. On my next set I did 13 reps with the higher weight, so I may be increasing again on Monday. We'll see how I feel. I havta be careful not to reinjure my bad shoulder.
That's the thing about working out with weights, once it starts getting easy, you havta make it hard again.

At the gym, I had already increased my workout weights on preacher curls and upright rows.
Today I increased everything else except the weighted crunch machine because I'm already doing the rack on that one and triceps extensions because I'm trying to get the whole rest of me to catch up with my triceps.
I have one more workout day before my next reassessment. It'll be interesting to see how that works out.

I’m fitting into the Large sized clothes a bit better. I hate XL stuff.
Bad knees are keeping me more sedentary. Time for the Gym again , I recon.

The easiest - and cheapest - way I have found to loose weight is to fast. It's not easy but after the second day you will adjust. Just drink lots of water and you'll be fine. If you want stationary bicycles, treadmills, etc., wait until summer yard sales hit. You can pick up new equipment for cents on the dollar because 99% of the people get bored and are not focused.

I want to buy Kettle -bells . ALDIS’ near me had them at the end of Jan. but are gone now. They were a set . I think they were too light , but they were … (something is better than nothing).

Adlib on weights. For years I lifted bags of sugar, bags of flour, and sacked up cans of tomato sauce. Then as I mentioned previously, I started looking at yard and garage sales. I picked up a set of BowFlex SelectTech Dumbbells for $25. Lots of treadmills for sale in the summer but the outdoors is completely free and doesn't require maintenance.

Since the gym was closed today, I had intended to do a home workout but since it wasn't raining and was actually nice out, I went for a bike ride on the C&O Canal Towpath instead. About 4 miles in, I came across this in the middle of the Towpath.

I went around it, kept going and hoped that it doesn't get any bigger and I can still get around it on the way home.
I got home just fine and ended up going 'bout 20 miles.
I plan to go to the gym tomorrow.

Went for a nice bike ride on the Towpath today. Started a bit later than intended. Still got 25 miles in.
I ordered two boxes of my favorite cigars and they've been on backorder for the last coupla months. They finally came in today so of course I had to play with them and load them into my humidor. Also, a mag holder I ordered for my gun wall came in today so of course I had to play with that too. I now have more room on my ammo shelves.
This was all before my bike ride started.
Tomorrow, it's off to the gym.

In March of this year I weighed 173 pounds at 13.9% bodyfat. I honestly felt that was too big for my frame
So, I wanted to lose some weight. Right now I'm at 163 pounds and 12.8% bodyfat. I actually feel better at that size, more comfortable and it's easier to get around on my gimpy legs.

Went for a hike today. I waited until around 2 so I'd be out during the hottest part of the day. It got up to 100 wonderful sunny humid degrees. I ended up going 5 miles.
Tomorrow, I'm going to work on my tan and a cigar.

Well the bad news is that my Garmin Fenix watch died. Won't even begin to take a charge. I don't really "need" it but it is nice to know my stats. The good news is that I found a refurbished Garmin Fenix 5 at a low discount price.
It has a lot of updated features and I've been learning to use it. On today's hike, I went a bit over five and a half miles and it got up to one hundred and five degrees.
