Hey everyone, I'm wondering how many of you still get around without GPS. Ever used a map, compass or even just the sun to figure out where you are? It's a good skill to have. So if you've got any tips, tools or stories about getting lost and finding your way back? Share here

I learned map and compass skills from my granddad, ee used to hike trails with nothing but a topo map and a good sense of direction. It’s still my favorite way to travel off-grid

I have used all and still have a hand held GPS. Got lost in Otter creek wilderness one time after following bear tracks into the rhodedendren bushes . My Dad was with me . I pulled out the map and the GPS . Found way point that I had set on the map with a computer topo program at home which marked the trail entered it in the Magellan GPS . And found we was a quarter of a mile from the trail. We was covered in that red bark crap that comes off that stuff from crawling in and out of it. That stuff was so think I don't know how those bear go through it so fast. We was using revolvers in mandolin holsters. If it had been rifles They would have been beat to death.
