I bought my first 1911 thinking I was graduating to something serious and I spent the first month diagnosing feed issues. She's high maintenance and worth it.
My gun taught me patience too and once I figured out what ammo it preferred and kept it well-lubed, it settled down. It’s still got more upkeep than my other pistols but I understand why some folks stick with it.
I have a s70 Colt. No problems at all. I shoot cast swc bullets. I have competed with this gun (years ago), carried it. Shot for practice and fun. I have other pistols and retired from the repair dept. of a gun co. The Colt has been the least trouble, of all the handguns that I own.
